Tiki Themed Contest @ Edifice Rex

Lumiere Noir announces an extension of the Tiki-themed contest deadlines (all times SLT):

Friday, July 28, 2006 at midnight -- entry deadline
Saturday, July 29, 2006 5:30 p.m -- 'live' avatar judging
Saturday, July 29, 2006 6:30p.m -- the judging deadline

Entries can be anything Tiki under 256 prims. For objects over this limit, IM Lumiere for an ok.

What is Tiki?

From Lumiere...

Tiki was a huge, popular art movement (I'm trying hard not to say a kitsch art movement but it's the truth) in the United States during the mid 1950s to the early 1960s. It was (very) loosely based on Polynesian art and culture. Tiki bars and Tiki clubs were all the rage across the U.S. in the form of furniture, clothing and household items...probably the most iconic Tiki image is that of a Tiki god...a totem pole travels to Easter Island sort of thing.

Vlad Bjorson DVD Release Celebration

Yachatsanova ~ Visions of the Oregon Coast
Saturday, July 29th ~ 1:00 PM
New World Gallery ~ Bembecia (144,182,105)

Vlad is launching his DVD -- a collection of musical videos filmed in and around Yachats, Oregon. On opening day, he will be showing most of the short videos that are included on the DVD, discussing each piece, and sharing his love of Mother Nature. Music included is a mix of upbeat accoustic guitars and soothing piano music. The notes will transport you through the crashing waves, rushing storm clouds, blooming flowers, and colorful sunsets of the Oregon Coast.

"This DVD is a personal labor of love. I captured the raw footage, chose songs to hilight my connection with each spot, then created each video to reflect the joy I felt as I experienced these gifts. There are no words on this DVD. The only story being told is one of shapes, colors, movement and time. Mother Nature has a wild and beautiful imagination and she has inspired me to create! " - Vlad Bjornson

Pink Celluloid: Searching for a Few Good Gay/Lesbian SL Artists for Community Show

Atom Burma from Pink Celluloid: Gay Film History Museum in Provincetown North is taking art entries to the SL Pride 2006 event, opening on July 22nd. The goal of this one-month show is to represent the SL GLBTQ Communities in a broad sense. Burma is searching for a more diversified artwork selection and notes that the majority of responses were from gay men.

The space contains a total of 1,000 prims organized in four rooms and a sculpture garden around back, on the museum's private beach.

Feel free to IM Atom Burma with any questions.
